چکیده
Response to Letter Regarding Article, “Proteinuria, but Not eGFR, Predicts Stroke Risk in Chronic Kidney Disease: Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort Study” We thank Dr Tsuda for the interest in our article. Biomarkers collected as part of the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) study will help us in this important next step exploring the mechanistic pathways related to cerebrovascular disease in chronic kidney disease, including oxidative stress pathways. Disclosures None.

Proteinuria, but Not eGFR, Predicts Stroke Risk in Chronic Kidney Disease: Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort Study.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Chronic kidney disease is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. However, the impact of chronic kidney disease on cerebrovascular disease is less well understood. We hypothesized that renal function severity would be predictive of stroke risk, independent of other vascular risk factors. METHODS The study population included 3939 subjects enrolled in...
متن کاملAssociation of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and failure to monitor renal function with adverse outcomes in people with diabetes: a primary care cohort study
BACKGROUND Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a known risk factor for cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality. We investigate the relationship between CKD stage, proteinuria, hypertension and these adverse outcomes in the people with diabetes. We also study the outcomes of people who did not have monitoring of renal function. METHODS A cohort of people with type 1 and 2 diabetes (N = 35,50...
متن کاملHepatic vein pressure predicts GFR in cirrhotic patients with hemodynamic kidney dysfunction
The role of "nephrocongestion" in hemodynamic renal disease is understudied. Intra-abdominal hypertension accompanies liver disease and renal disease. Our hypothesis states that in those patients with liver disease, hepatic vein pressure measured during a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure reflects intra-abdominal pressure and predicts estimated glomerular filtration...
متن کاملUrine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin levels do not improve risk prediction of progressive chronic kidney disease
Novel biomarkers may improve our ability to predict which patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at higher risk for progressive loss of renal function. Here, we assessed the performance of urine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) for outcome prediction in a diverse cohort of 3386 patients with CKD in the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort study. In this cohort, the baseli...
متن کاملProteinuria Independently Predicts Unfavorable Outcome of Ischemic Stroke Patients Receiving Intravenous Thrombolysis
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Patients with low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and proteinuria may be at increased risk for stroke. This study investigated whether low eGFR and proteinuria are outcome predictors in stroke patients treated with intravenous thrombolysis. METHODS We studied 432 consecutive stroke patients who received thrombolysis from January 2006 to December 2012, in Tai...
